Liam Lawson finished ninth in qualifying at the São Paulo Grand Prix, disrupting the established hierarchy between the top three drivers.
The times of the first session show an irregular pace which does not allow Lawson to overtake outsiders like George Russell or Charles Leclerc.
Second behind Max Verstappen (30th fastest), George Russell and Charles Leclerc completed the top three. Lando Norris, third in the final standings, is Lawson's main potential rival for the final victory.
Technical director Toto Wolff has announced an in-depth visit to the engine settings next Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, where the last event of the 2024 season will take place.
