Red Bull Bragantino inflicted a severe correction on Flamengo this Thursday, April 2, during a match counting for the ninth day of the Campeonato Brasileiro. With a clear score of 3-0, the São Paulo team dominated from start to finish, exposing the weaknesses of a Flamengo who was expected to turn the corner after the FIFA Date break.
From the kick-off, Bragantino imposed a high pace, leaving Flamengo no chance to organize themselves. The home players took advantage of repeated defensive errors to score three times, while the rubro-negra attack remained silent throughout the match. This disappointing performance comes after the Rio club had benefited from several days of preparation.
The absence of Bruno Henrique, injured, weighed heavily on Flamengo's offensive performance. Without its flagship striker, the team lacked creativity and depth, struggling to create clear chances. The midfielder, often criticized, failed to take control of the game, leaving Bragantino to control the proceedings.
The technician Leonardo Jardim, who had made significant returns to his workforce, finds himself faced with a bitter observation. Despite the availability of key players after suspensions, collective cohesion was lacking. This defeat raises questions about the team's ability to quickly get back into the title race.
As for Bragantino, this victory confirms the good momentum of the team this season. Tactically solid and efficient in front of goal, the club was able to capitalize on the opposing weaknesses to win largely. This result allows Bragantino to get closer to the top places in the ranking.
The reaction of captain Danilo, who described this performance as “shameful”, sums up the state of mind within Flamengo. The players and staff will have to quickly analyze the causes of this failure to avoid a negative spiral, especially as the Brazilian calendar is dense in the weeks to come.
In the context of the Brazilian championship, this meeting illustrates the increased competitiveness of the league, where each team can surprise. Bragantino, with its ambitious project supported by Red Bull, demonstrates its ability to compete with the big traditional clubs, shaking up the established hierarchy.
For Flamengo, the challenge now is to regain their game and their confidence before the next challenges. Supporters are expecting an immediate reaction, while management may be required to re-evaluate tactical options and squad choices for the rest of the season.
