The EU decides on an embargo on Russian coal this Thursday, April 7, 2022.
This decision is one of the measures put in place by Europe to discourage Russia from continuing its war in Ukraine. It adds to the long list of economic sanctions weighing on the Kremlin.
Russian coal represents 45% of coal imports from European Union countries. The prohibition of this exchange will have serious consequences on the Russian economy, but will also significantly affect European countries.
Among the measures adopted by the representatives of the twenty-seven this Thursday are the closure of European ports to Russian ships and the ban on exports of high-tech goods to Russia, to the tune of 1 billion euros.
