Four number one seeded teams bit the dust against determined opponents, upsetting the established hierarchy of this 48-team competition.

Grand Island Northwest struck a big blow by eliminating the two-time defending Class B champion, Norris, beaten in three straight sets with scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-22.

Norris's team was eleventh in the national rankings before the start of this major sporting event in the capital of Nebraska.

The finals will take place on the floor of the John Cook Arena, where the last trophies of the season will be awarded in front of the supporters.

The final championship matches will begin this Saturday from 9 a.m. at the various host sites in Lincoln.
