Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will participate this week in the 64th Cúpula du Mercosul, which will be held in Assunção, Paraguay. Lula will arrive in the Paraguayan capital on July 8 for this important event, which will bring together heads of state from Mercosul member countries and associated states. After this meeting, he will travel to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, for an official visit on July 9.
This cup marks a significant moment for Mercosul, as Paraguay will hand over the bloc's rotating presidency to Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou. Under the Paraguayan presidency, 14 ministerial meetings took place, addressing various subjects such as education, health, justice, and human rights. One of the important initiatives was the creation of committees for integrated border management, thus facilitating movement and trade in the region.

One of the central subjects of this cúpula will be the accession of Bolivia as a full member of Mercosul. The Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Brazil, Gisela Padovan, highlighted the importance of this accession to strengthen regional ties and promote deeper integration between member countries.
In Bolivia, Lula will meet with President Luis Arce to discuss various bilateral projects and sign several agreements. This visit aims to strengthen relations between the two countries, after a period of tensions under the previous Brazilian government. Bolivia is a strategic partner for Brazil, particularly in terms of natural resources and trade.
Lula will also take advantage of this tour to discuss broader economic topics, including the promotion of trade and regional economic integration. He will emphasize the need to modernize infrastructure and strengthen trade ties to boost economic growth in the region.
