Ann Arbor — Le Dr Abdul El-Sayed a officiellement lancé son propre comité d'action politique (PAC) baptisé Habibi ce jeudi soir dans un événement organisé à Ann Arbor, où il entend poursuivre sa campagne pour l'investiture démocrate au Sénat américain.
The launch comes just three days after Dr. El-Sayed was elected United States Senator by defeating John James in a narrow race.
« C'est un moment historique, a déclaré le Dr El-Sayed lors de l'événement. Nous avons travaillé dur pour construire cette équipe et nous sommes prêts. »
The Habibi PAC aims to recruit new donors and finance electoral campaigns at the local level.
“People want to see a Muslim American leading this country from Washington, and that’s what I’m here for,” the reverend added.
Jewish voters in Michigan remain a key segment for the 2028 Democratic campaign.
“How did Abdul El-Sayed really perform with Jewish voters? Politico asked several Michigan Jewish officials interviewed Friday.
« Il parle avec sincérité, il comprend nos préoccupations et il est honnête sur ses positions », ont indiqué plusieurs responsables. « C'est rare de voir quelqu'un qui fait ça gratuitement. »
« Judy et Jan Johnson ont toujours été fiers de leur petit-fils depuis qu'il est entré dans leur vie quand il était enfant, » ont raconté les deux grands-parents vendredi depuis Ann Arbor.
« Et maintenant ils sont ravis qu'il fera history comme the first Muslim American U.S. senator after he won the race for the Michigan seat Tuesday. »
« L'audience suivante aura lieu mardi prochain au Sénat américain, » a annoncé le Comité national démocrate sans précision sur la date exacte du vote confirmant l'investiture.
