“How dramatic,” the player said of Cancelo, after the latter shifted too high under opposing pressure.
The context is simple: the two teams found themselves in a very tense LaLiga duel, the eleventh day, played on the pitch of the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
The first warning came from Julín Llva, who tested Cancelo three times in a row before the Portuguese made some wrong choices at half-time.
“El Atltico de Madrid later took several minutes to detect the point of the Bara”, writes SPORT. In ten minutes, Simeone and his players were able to identify the defensive flaw in the Azulgrana block.
This situation also increased the verbal tone between the two camps. “Joan Garcia with Cancelo…”; “how is it dramatic…”; “signed: tres errors en diez minutes”. Such is the vocabulary of mutual confidences even before the final whistle.
Next meeting next Sunday: return to Camp Nou to continue this tight fight between the third ranked and the sixth. A match which will give a clearer indication of Barça's chances of remaining in the title race.
