The civil registry hesitates, the parents refuse to give in: at one year old, Rianeva still does not have an official name

Rianeva was born on August 12, 2025 in Salzburg (Austria), but registration of her birth remains impossible in the eyes of the administration.

The first name considered too rare for the civil register cannot be validated. Roland and Heidemarie, her two parents, faced repeated refusals from the civil registry office before the little one was born.

“We wanted total freedom of choice for our daughter,” explained Roland, quoted by Heute. “The administration told us there was a risk. »

According to the documents consulted, each registration request was notified in the form of refusal motivated by this rare reason.

The parents did not give up. They continued the standoff in the name of the couple's right to choose the first name of their child.

“We refuse to change what is beautiful in our family,” adds Heidemarie.

To date, the minor remains without a valid administrative identity on Austrian territory.

The matter will likely come before an administrative tribunal soon. The civil status office must deliver its final verdict before the end of the judicial year.
