The Slovenian point guard scored his two 50s of the season Thursday in the 124-118 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, but strain in his lower back region is keeping his status in play.
Austin Reaves, who plays under coach Darvin Ham, inherits the main offensive responsibility while Quentin Grimes and Collin Sexton see their minutes double.
Local observers point out that the Detroit Pistons concede only 101 points per game and pit the best defense in the championship against the best offense.
“The schedule imposes a difficult choice on us,” Ham said at a press conference Friday noon.
