Pix MEI, integrated into the Prospera MEI package announced by the federal government on October 21, promises to transfer up to R$5,000 to individual microentrepreneurs to use in productive investments.
The resources may be allocated to machines, tools, inputs, workbenches and adaptations to vehicles used in business activity.
The original proposal provided that small business owners could use the money directly to expand their structure without having to return the amount or pay interest.
According to reports from Pequenas Empresas & Grandes Negócios magazine, the measure still depends on official regulation before it comes into definitive force.
The announcement was made as part of the set of actions aimed at individual micro-entrepreneurs included in the package previously approved by the Legislature.
Businesspeople from different segments followed the news with moderate expectations, according to a preliminary survey of sources consulted by local vehicles.
Representatives of the category argued that the benefit can help fund the acquisition of essential equipment for maintenance and expansion of revenue.
The Ministry of Micro and Small Businesses was cited as responsible for coordinating the next stages of technical implementation of the program.
So far there is no confirmed date for the start of official registrations or for the release of the first transfers via Pix.
