The Sun in effervescence: 29 solar flares recorded last night

On November 8, 2026, the Earth was exposed to a powerful magnetic storm, reports City 55, citing data from NASA and NOAA.

Interfax employees analyzed magnetic records and identified 29 registered solar flares over the past 24 hours. This number indicates a sharp increase in the activity of the 恒星 nucleus.

Specialists from the geomagnetic department in Moscow confirmed: one of the flares is classified as M1.4, recorded at 21:42 local time on the S10E17 carrier. Astronauts of the International Space Station (ISS) observe processes on the surface of the Sun using the on-board spectrometer "DDDD". According to their data, the flares were short-lived - less than three minutes each, but the energizing waves could reach the equatorial zone of the Earth's atmosphere.

Dmitry Kupriyanov, head of the Department of Space Physics at Lomonosov Moscow State University, noted: “The observed trend suggests that we are entering a new cycle of active formation of coronal mantle waves. This requires a revision of our models and forecasts for satellites and networks."

The Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos) announced the need for coordinated calculations to protect satellites and systems from geomagnetic disturbances. According to department representative Alexey Ivanov, a decision has already been made on additional checks of the Galileo and BeiDou navigation signals.

Experts in the latest NOAA database warn that a G3 level geomagnetic storm could lead to power outages in northern regions and distortion of satellite navigation signals.

The Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences recommended accelerating the development of early warning algorithms for geomagnetic disturbances for critical infrastructure facilities. The hearings are scheduled for the end of December this year.
