Tragic death of Tony Knight at the “Rock and Cars” Festival in France

British actor and comedian Tony Knight, known as “Dog Listener”, died at the age of 54 in a tragic accident during the “Rock and Cars” festival in Lavaur, France. The incident occurred on June 7, 2024, when a large tree branch fell, striking Knight and several other attendees. Although four other people were injured, Tony Knight was the only fatality in this accident.

Knight was in France for his annual vacation, accompanied by his friend Pascall, and planned to give dog training classes and comedy shows across Europe. His long-term partner, Hayley Wright, now finds herself faced with the heartbreaking task of arranging his funeral and managing his estate.

Highly regarded for his innovative dog training methods, Knight has helped people around the world through his in-person, online, radio and television classes. His relatives described him as “charismatic, funny, passionate and much loved”. As a testament to his impact, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to cover the costs of his funeral and associated medical expenses, already raising thousands of dollars.

The mayor of Lavaur, Bernard Carayon, expressed his condolences, saying that such a dramatic event had never taken place in the city. Tributes are also pouring in on social media, where fans share their grief and memories of Knight.

Knight, who planned to move to France with Hayley, was known for his dog training comedy shows, called "Mad Dogs and an Englishman." His death left a huge void in the hearts of those who knew and admired him.
