The Valencian Community on yellow alert facing a new rainy depression

The Valencian Community is preparing to face a new disrupted weather episode this Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has triggered a yellow level advisory for the entire provinces of Valencia, Alicante and Castellón, due to the imminent arrival of a depression bringing persistent rain and localized thunderstorms.

Forecasts indicate that precipitation will begin in the middle of the night in the province of Alicante, where the alert is effective from 3 a.m. For Valencia and Castellón, the system comes into force from 9:30 a.m., with vigilance maintained until the end of the day. Expected accumulations could reach 20 liters per square meter in one hour in the most exposed areas.

This meteorological situation comes at a particularly sensitive time for the region, as the Fallas celebrations are fast approaching. Organizers of traditional events are closely monitoring evolving conditions, fearing disruptions to preparations and outdoor activities planned in the coming days.

Local authorities recommend that residents and visitors stay informed via official Aemet channels. They also advise caution on the roads, where reduced visibility and aquaplaning could present accident risks, particularly on coastal roads and mountainous areas.

On the agricultural level, this precipitation could have a double impact. If they are beneficial for recharging groundwater after a relatively dry period, they could also affect certain early crops sensitive to excess humidity. Wine growers and market gardeners are monitoring the situation carefully.

Civil protection services have been placed on preventive alert throughout the autonomous community. Teams are mobilized to intervene quickly if necessary, in particular to manage possible minor river overflows or falling trees linked to gusts of wind accompanying precipitation.

Weather models suggest a gradual improvement in conditions from Wednesday, with a notable decrease in rain intensity. However, clouds could persist over a large part of the territory, maintaining unstable weather until the end of the week.

This episode recalls the importance of early warning systems in Mediterranean regions, regularly exposed to intense weather phenomena. Coordination between Aemet, local administrations and the media makes it possible to effectively inform the population and limit potential impacts on daily activities.
