The Val di Scalve, nestled in the heart of the Orobie Alps in Lombardy, is currently experiencing renewed media and economic interest. This valley, which has long remained discreet, is positioning itself as an emerging destination for lovers of mountains and responsible tourism. Recent initiatives, including television broadcasting and hotel investments, demonstrate a positive dynamic in this Italian region.
On March 10, the Rai 3 channel programmed a new documentary dedicated to the Val di Scalve in its Geo program. This report, produced by Luigi Ceccarelli and another filmmaker, highlights the preserved landscapes and local culture of this part of the Bergamo Alps. The broadcast, scheduled around 6:15 p.m., offers national visibility to this valley, highlighting its authenticity and natural attractions.
At the same time, a major hotel project saw the light of day with the inauguration of the Colere 1600 hotel by Cloud 7 Hotels. Located at an altitude of 1,600 meters in the Parc des Orobies, this establishment has been renovated over an area of 2,800 square meters using natural materials such as orobic stone and larice wood. It has 28 rooms, a panoramic spa and a restaurant offering Alpine cuisine, thus contributing to the high-end tourist offer.
This development is part of a territorial rilancio plan, or territorial recovery, estimated at more than 30 million euros. Local authorities and private investors are working together to enhance the natural and cultural resources of the Val di Scalve. The aim is to attract not only traditional visitors, but also an international clientele looking for unique and sustainable experiences.
The strategic position of the valley, accessible from cities such as Milan, Bergamo and Brescia, facilitates its attractiveness. It already attracts hikers, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts, but the new infrastructure aims to diversify activities. Cultural and gastronomic tourism is thus becoming a major focus, with initiatives such as the Plan del Sole restaurant which highlights local products.
The implications of this renaissance are multiple on the economic and social level. The creation of jobs in the hotel industry and related services could boost the local economy, often weakened by rural exodus. In addition, preservation of the environment is at the heart of the projects, with reasonable use of resources and promotion of sustainable tourism.
In the current context of tourism in Italy, the Val di Scalve represents an example of balanced development between modernity and tradition. While many Alpine regions face challenges linked to overcrowding, this valley relies on a more measured model, favoring quality over quantity. This approach could inspire other mountainous areas in Europe.
The combination of media coverage by Rai 3 and real estate investments places Val di Scalve in the spotlight. This dual exposure, both cultural and economic, reinforces its image as a popular destination. The coming months will be decisive in assessing the impact of these initiatives on tourist influx and regional development.
