The Caballerizas Reales de Córdoba, an architectural jewel of Andalusian heritage, are at the heart of a complex administrative situation that has lasted for more than fifteen years. In December 2025, the Córdoba fire services issued a first warning, describing the risks to people, animals and heritage as “direct”. Their inspection revealed problems such as the accumulation of gas cylinders, flammable materials stored inappropriately, as well as outdated and dangerous electrical installations. These elements create an environment conducive to a major disaster.
Despite these alerts, a second report dating from January 2026 paradoxically declared the building “fit” for use, with the exception of one of its annexed constructions. This discrepancy in assessments has sowed confusion and fueled criticism from local organizations, including Hacemos Córdoba, who are demanding accountability from municipal authorities.
The current management of the site has been carried out by Córdoba Ecuestre since 2009, under a so-called “en precario” regime, that is to say without a formal transfer contract. This provisional situation persisted despite public investments exceeding five million euros intended for the renovation and maintenance of the complex. Administrative delays and successive postponements have contributed to the state of disrepair observed today.
