For the first time in its history, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is coming to Spain, with the organization of the CUPRA Raval Madrid e-Prix this weekend. This event, scheduled for March 21-22, 2026, represents a major milestone for electric motorsport in the region, attracting thousands of spectators to the Jarama Circuit, near the Spanish capital.
The Jarama Circuit, built in 1967, returns to its glorious past after having hosted Formula 1 until 1981 and the Mondial de Motociclisme until 1998. Its recent renovation allows it to meet the technical requirements of Formula E, with electric cars capable of reaching 320 km/h, offering a silent but intense spectacle, without fuel emissions.
The logistics of the event have been optimized to minimize environmental impact, reducing the carbon footprint by 25% compared to previous editions. Working with official partner DHL, the championship has streamlined its flight operations from three to two aircraft per race, while transporting more than 400 tonnes of equipment across 17 races in 11 cities this season.
Economically, the arrival of Formula E in Spain stimulates tourism and local investment, with an estimated attendance of 40,000 people for the Grand Prix. The media and commercial impact is significant, positioning Madrid as a hub for sustainable motorsport in Europe.
