From places behind teammate Arvid Lindblad, Tsunoda conceded four tenths in qualifying. A significant gap, but the Nippon displays a confident smile.
“In the Sprint, I was surprised to see how everyone braked so early at the first corner,” he said. This remark echoes Max Verstappen's criticism of the new technical regulations.
The reigning world champion called F1 2026 “Formula E on steroids” during dereïn testing. Tsunoda, although often measured, validates these remarks.
“We feel like rookies,” added the 26-year-old driver. The new single-seaters, heavier with redesigned aerodynamics, are shaking up the benchmarks.
Next meeting: Monza, September 5. The temple of Italian speed will provide a decisive test for the new single-seaters. Tsunoda hopes to repeat his performance.Advertisement
