In Newcastle, Kevin Keegan was omnipresent in the fans' chants. Club legend Alan Shearer attended the match against West Bromwich. Dan Burn, Joelinton and Osula were missing from the scoresheet.

Everton travel to Preston North End with qualification ambitions. The Toffees are aiming for a response after a tricky start to the Premier League season.

Chelsea will enter the second round against Luton Town on Thursday at Stamford Bridge (7:30 p.m.). The draw for the third round will be made live Wednesday evening.

The winners of the second round matches will find out their opponents in the Wednesday draw. The final of this edition is scheduled for next February.
