São Paulo franchit une étape clé pour l'expansion de son métro avec une nouvelle station à Guarulhos

The Companhia Ambiental do Estado de São Paulo (Cetesb) has officially authorized the start of work on Dutra station, a new crucial step for the metro network of the metropolitan region. This decision, announced recently, paves the way for the first station located outside the municipal territory of São Paulo, precisely in Guarulhos.

This environmental authorization represents a significant investment, estimated at several hundred million reais, intended to improve transport infrastructure in a densely populated area. The concessionaire Agis, responsible for line 19-Celeste, will thus be able to start construction after months of administrative procedures.

Line 19-Celeste, scheduled to enter service in the next decade, will connect Bosque Maia in Guarulhos to downtown São Paulo, providing a sustainable mobility alternative for thousands of residents. This extension aims to reduce road congestion and facilitate daily travel in the large urban area.

Local authorities emphasize that this project is part of a broader strategy to modernize public transport, essential to respond to the demographic and economic growth of the State. Guarulhos, São Paulo's second largest city in terms of population, will directly benefit from this connection to the metropolitan network.

The works will be carried out in several phases, with a first stage targeting the Penha station, before extending towards Guarulhos. This progressive approach helps minimize disruption for existing users while ensuring smooth integration of new infrastructure.

The environmental implications have been carefully assessed by Cetesb, ensuring that the project meets standards of sustainability and protection of local ecosystems. Impact mitigation measures are planned to preserve the quality of life of neighboring communities.

This progress comes in a context where investments in public transport are a priority for many Brazilian metropolises, facing the challenges of urban mobility. It could serve as a model for other similar expansions in the country.

Ultimately, the Dutra station should not only improve access to transport, but also stimulate the economic development of Guarulhos, by attracting new commercial and residential activities around this connection hub.
