Sunday August 24, the Catalans crushed Elche 5-0 on the pitch at the Martínez Valero stadium. Marcus Gordon delivered two assists in his first official minutes in the Blaugrana jersey. Karim Adeyemi, another summer recruit, scored his first goal with the club.
Bilbao arrives in Catalonia with fragile morale. The Basques were beaten 3-1 on their own lawn by Sevilla FC on the first day. Ernesto Valverde must find solutions to revive a team lacking confidence.
Flick made a strong choice by immediately starting Rodri. The German technician indicated that he wanted to quickly integrate his new centerpiece into the Catalan gaming system. The tactical hinge displays a clear ambition for this season.
The rest of the Catalan calendar includes a trip to Celta Vigo on Sunday August 30, then the reception of Rayo Vallecano the following weekend. Bilbao will host Osasuna on Saturday evening to try to revive their momentum.
