RC Vannes loses its emblematic second line. Metz announced his retirement on Instagram last May, posting a message that went viral in the rugby world. “After 15 years of career, I am going back to cut wood but in the forest this time,” he wrote at the time, suggesting that the crampons were well and truly put away.

Metz has a solid career in Top 14 and Pro D2. His experience will be a major asset for the Parisian club, which is aiming for a place in the top six of the rankings this season. The player also brings his leadership in the locker room, a quality sought by the technical staff.

Stade Français ends its summer preparation on a positive note. The club has registered several recruits this offseason and seems equipped to compete at the highest level in France. Supporters are now waiting to see Metz in its new colors.

The 2026-2027 Top 14 season begins Saturday September 5 and Sunday September 6. Stade Français will host Perpignan on this occasion, Saturday September 5 at 7 p.m. Metz could make his debut in the Parisian jersey in this first match of the season.
