Quatre prétendants, un seul strapontin. Le Parti socialiste et Place publique ont officialisé mardi 25 août les modalités de leur primaire commune, destinée à désigner un candidat unique pour l'élection présidentielle de 2027.

Raphaël Glucksmann, chef de file de Place publique, portera les couleurs de l'alliance aux côtés des sociaux-démocrates. L'accord, conclu après plusieurs semaines de négociations, fixe le calendrier et les conditions de participation à cette consultation interne ouverte aux sympathisants.

Paris, mardi matin. Les états-majors des deux formations ont validé le protocole lors d'une réunion tenue au siège du PS, rue de Solférino. L'opération vise à éviter une candidature séparée susceptible de fragmenter l'électorat de gauche non Insoumis.

Gabriel Attal, Édouard Philippe et François Hollande briguent également l'investiture. Trois profils, trois trajectoires, une même ambition : capter les voix du centre et du centre-gauche face à une droite donnée favorite dans les sondages.

Glucksmann claims its European roots. “We support ecological coherence,” he declared to Le Monde on August 26, defending a line focused on climate transition and European sovereignty.

52 % des sympathisants de gauche interrogés en juillet par l'IFOP souhaitent une candidature commune à la gauche de la macronie. Le scrutin interne devra trancher entre les prétendants avant la fin de l'année 2026.

The PS had given up on organizing an open primary during the previous presidential cycle. The return to this format, borrowed from the Mitterrandian tradition, reflects the desire to give democratic legitimacy to the future candidate.

Place publique impose ses thèmes : écologie, défense européenne, critique du productivisme. Le PS conserve l'appareil militant et les sections locales. Le compromis satisfait, pour l'heure, les deux camps.

The date of the first round of the primary will be set during the PS national office scheduled for September 15. The four candidates will then have six weeks to campaign before the vote of registered members and supporters.
