Temperatures above the norm could affect France from the end of September, according to weather forecasts published Tuesday by Météo France and La Chaîne Météo.
The month of September could record unusual heat peaks, according to Cyril Wuest, meteorologist at La Chaîne Météo. An exceptional heat wave already hit the country in August, with temperatures exceeding 40°C in several regions.
The storms at the end of August brought a temporary respite, but Tameteo.com indicates that a rise of warm air from the west could generate new heat waves as early as next week.
The risk of violent storms persists, according to the weather services, which are monitoring a depression located in the west of France. This configuration could cause local storms, with hailstones and violent winds.
Forecasts indicate that the start of autumn will remain warm, with temperatures 3 to 5°C higher than the historical average for the period. This phenomenon could last several days.
Greenhouse gas emissions and current climate conditions reinforce this scenario, according to climatologists. Unstable weather is expected, with alternations between rain and strong heat.
Health authorities recommend that vulnerable people limit outings during peak hours, between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Rest centers are open in several cities, notably Paris and Lyon.
The next weather reports will be published Wednesday morning by Météo France, with updates on the evolution of temperatures and the associated risks.
