Wednesday March 25, 2026 will remain a memorable date in the history of Brazilian basketball. Gui Santos, the Golden State Warriors winger, scored 31 points during his team's victory against the Brooklyn Nets with a score of 109 to 106. This exceptional performance allowed him to become the best scorer of the match, a first in his NBA career.
In the absence of injured Stephen Curry, Santos had to assume an offensive leadership role. His aggression under the basket and his three-point precision were decisive in allowing the Warriors to win in a close match. This victory also assured the San Francisco team a place in the play-in, the draft phase for the playoffs.
With these 31 points, Gui Santos joins a very small circle of Brazilian basketball players who have scored 30 points or more in an NBA match. He joins the legends Leandrinho Barbosa, Nenê Hilário and Anderson Varejão. This achievement highlights the rise of Brazilian athletes on the international basketball scene.
Santos' journey to this record-breaking performance is the result of hard work. Recruited by the Warriors in 2024, he had to adapt to the intense pace of the NBA and gain the trust of his coach. His steady progress this season has been noticed, making him a key part of the team's rotation.
This performance comes at a crucial time of the season, as the Warriors look to qualify for the playoffs. Santos' contribution could prove decisive for the team's ambitions, demonstrating the depth of its squad and its ability to rely on young talent in the absence of the usual stars.
In Brazil, Gui Santos' feat was widely celebrated by the media and fans. He represents hope for the new generation of Brazilian basketball players, showing that it is possible to shine in the most competitive league in the world. His success could inspire many young athletes to pursue their dreams.
Sports analysts point out that this performance could mark a turning point in Santos' career. By proving he can be an effective scorer at a high level, he could see his playing time increase and become a mainstay for the Warriors in the years to come. His polyposition and energy are valuable assets.
As the NBA season enters its decisive phase, all eyes will be on Gui Santos to see if he can back up this performance. His development will be followed closely, not only by Warriors supporters, but also by the entire Brazilian basketball community, proud to see one of its representatives shine on the world stage.
