Gui Santos missed Saturday's game with knee tendinitis that Steve Kerr confirmed remains unresolved. The young forward had already spent weeks managing the injury before Butler's absence forced more minutes on him.
The Golden State Warriors' offense had quietly built around Santos during the Butler outage, with the rookie gaining valuable usage inside Steve Kerr's attack scheme. Now those gains hang in the balance.
Draymond Green returned from an elbow injury earlier in the season and was listed available for Saturday's matchup, but the Warriors still face an uncertain offensive outlook without their primary wing scorer.
Fantasy managers had ranked Santos among the team's most impactful contributors all season, and his latest absence compounds an already difficult stretch.
Steve Kerr said in a pregame press conference that Santos has been dealing with the same knee concern he managed through much of last season, leaving coaching staffs to plan around reduced minutes.
The Warriors host a key opponent this weekend, and frontcourt depth will need to absorb whatever role Santos typically carried off the bench or on the perimeter.
Fans tuning into Saturday's slate will be watching closely to see whether Kerr can preserve any offensive momentum without Santos at full capacity.
A Warriors medical staff is expected to release updated injury reports later this week, with a final decision on Santos' return hinging on whether inflammation has subsided enough to allow meaningful minutes.
