In a press release dated September 20, 2022,
the Fondasyon Je Klere (FJKL), reported that “faced with the inability of the police to contain popular protests within democratic limits, fishermen in troubled waters took the opportunity to engage in acts of looting, fire and destruction”.
The foundation claims to note that “targeted attacks were directed against the residences of certain people close to the Government, schools, churches, hospitals and the thugs took away, among other things, without any justification, teaching materials, school materials, medical equipment and sacred objects”.

Furthermore, this human rights organization reveals that “corrupt people, including at least one official of the Government of Jovenel MOISE who is under a debit order from the Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Disputes (CSCCA) for corruption, smugglers and notorious gang leaders have taken a stand and even signed press notes to call for the resignation of the Head of Government”.
According to the FJKL, this attempt to recover the people's protest movement by mafia sectors aims to discredit the movement and make it fail.

She said she noted that the Haitian people's protest movement suffers from the absence of responsible, credible, lucid and enlightened leadership. “Street movements alone have never been enough to bring about a popular movement. Indiscriminate violence, calls for murder, destruction, violence and the use of famine as a means of political struggle cannot contribute to the essential renegotiation of the social balance between social classes for a Strong, stable state et Democratic which Haiti definitely needs,” she argued.
Furthermore, the FJKL denounced the strategy of dead towns without respite, without the possibility of supplies for the poorest masses and without the facilities put in place to promote the smooth arrival of the sick and injured in hospital centers and the control of barricades by violent groups who ransom and attack the population is counterproductive,” she indicated. “There is reason to remedy this,” she argued.

Despite all of the above, La Fondasyon Je Klere (FJKL) urged the Government of Ariel Henry, “to listen to the Voice of the demanding people rather than submit to the injunctions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to be able to stop this wind of tension on the soil of Haiti.
